One of the most anticipated longboards is about to arrive - the Rayne K-Rimes - KILL SWITCH
Quoted below is what Rayne has to say about this beast.
The Killswitch says it all. The brainchild of Kevin “K-Rimes” Reimer is finally out and ready to steal your time, your urethane, and your minds. With years of experience riding downhill and a sharp mind, Kevin has taken the time to think about each and every movement you make when riding downhill, and how a board could make those maneuvers easier through being positively “locked in”. Ergonomics were the name of the game when this board came to be and it stickhandled through the competition better than Gretzky ever could.
The locks on this board are several:
1: 3/8” Radial Drop Platform: subtle drops in the front and rear so as to cradle the life that it is stealing from regular monotonous board design.
2: K-Rimes’ own Pleasure Dome concave with a subtle feel that is enough to lock you in, but not enough to become bothersome on long bombs or pushes. The W concave also allows for butter toe-side pre-drifts and heel-side stand up checks by keeping your rear foot in place and in check.
1+2 = 3: Where the small drop morphs into the flat-topped Pleasure Dome concave, you place your foot in that “special spot” where the two lovers meet. You will find your foot and toes are dropped into an aggressive forward facing stance that is similar to that of a runner on a starting block. This allows for pushing bad’assery and major comfort when you’re out on the track.
4: Three-dimensional wood bending was used in this deck to give a full, cupped feeling for the front and rear toes. This allows the body to lean far away from the board while still maintaining full contact of the front foot. The rear foot will find a pocket specially designed for those who tuck, and tuck fast.
5: The “Drop-Lock”. When you stand on this deck your front foot will naturally position itself into the “Drop-Lock” where the toes sit beside the drop rather than behind it. This makes for a complete and total lock of the front foot for toe-side drifts.
Specs:
Length - 38"
Width - 10"
Wheelbase - 31/32"
Features:
Pleasure Dome Concave
3/8" Pleasure Pocket Drop
They ship on Friday, so we should see them around the 17th of September.

For those who aren't familiar with the Earthwing skateboards story, here it is from Brian Petrie, the owner:
Earthwing Skateboards started in the mid 90's while I worked at PSNY Skateshop in 6th and west 4th in NYC. This was just a hobby for a curious tinkerer that loved skateboarding. The idea started by shaping broken shop snowboards into little slolom and carving decks. Man, these things could haul serious ass. When you find yourself having so much fun with something you made, it gets addictive, and you get even more curious. You start chasing the thrill by trying new things, and exploring new ideas. When I ran out of snowboards to butcher, I started researching constructions, core and composite materials, processes, presses...the list goes on. What is the best possible way to make a skateboard? Just Look at a tennis raquette, a kayak, a golf club, even a snowboard. Wood may be cheap, but it is primitive. I grew up on wood, there is nothing wrong with it, but there are so many possibilities with advanced composites. I felt it then, and I feel it now - YOU DESERVE MORE.
So the war was on. My first Earthwing was made in April of 1999. It was a carver wrapped in s-glass, baltic birch top and bottom sheets, v-lam balsa core, and even some woven stainless steel of all things. It wasn't my best and it took forever, but it was so worth it. It fed my addiction. Through the years, I researched, refined, built, collected more tools, designed tools and presses etc... I ended up turning my tiny Brooklyn apartment into a working factory. I had boards in vacuum presses, tools everywhere, a silkscreening operation, carbon fiber stuck in my sheets, and epoxy all over the place. I made a steam box over my stove with 4 kettles billowing skin melting steam up to the waiting cores. It was bananas in there. D.I.Y If you want it bad enough, you will figure it out. Whatever works.
In 2003, Earthwing madman Ian "watch out for the car!" Nichols rode earthwing into an amazing win the first time out at the infamous "Broadway Bomb" race. See the Broadway Bomb documentary to see the impossible happen. We were in demand, but the boards were so time consuming, and expensive, it was hard to take the next step to mass production. We now have our act together, and the boards are better than ever, and available to everyone at a reasonable price. Kaspar "he must be cheating" Heinrici continues to win, and break new records to this date on Earthwing. We will be leading the charge in our quest to provide the best skateboard possible for whatever you skate. Read Concrete Wave every day.
Thanks for your support, you deserve more.
Brian Petrie

For those of you that don't know, Given Skateboards is based here in Atlanta is owned by Kris and Amy Markovitch. The wood is first rate (comes from Jamie Thomas' factory) and the graphics are awesome, as you might expect for a board with Kris Markovitch at the helm. Woodys Halfpipe is your Atlanta area skateboard shop source for Given Skateboards. We have you covered all the way up to 8.5. Had a chance to visit Given HQ this morning and I was blown away by the art Kris is knocking out. It was easy to forget that I was there to pick up skateboards. Anyway come in and have a look and support a legit Atlanta based skateboard company. As always, griptape is included at no extra charge on all street decks.
